Mark BergerMark Berger brings over 16 years of public and private sector accounting experience and holds the position of Chief Financial Officer for MetroGroup Development. His responsibilities include the financial management and day to day accounting duties of all the related MetroGroup Development entities as well as loan closings, financings, acquisitions and dispositions. Since joining Metro Group Development in 2003, Mark formed and is the principal owner of Metro's property management arm, Metro Group Property Services.
Prior to joining MetroGroup Development, Mr. Berger received his formal accounting and initial real estate experience with Habif, Arogeti & Wynne, Atlanta's largest public accounting firm, where he worked as Senior Accountant from 1989 to 1996. In that position, Mr. Berger worked on many large local commercial and residential developers accounts and gained significant knowledge and experience.
Since leaving Habif, Arogeti, & Wynne, in 1996, Mr. Berger has held various senior level and controller positions with private and public companies in the Atlanta area, including Niagara National Corporation, Ross Systems, Inc, and Innovations in Contemporary Furniture, Inc. These companies ranged in size from $5,000,000 in sales in the private company environment to a $100,000,000 publicly traded company, where his primary responsibilities were SEC compliance and 10-K reporting, as well as other general accounting duties.
Mr. Berger earned his Bachelor of Science from Georgia State University. He serves on the board of several charitable foundations, including the Atlanta Group Home, Inc. and The Atlanta Jewish Group Home Foundation. He and his wife Lori enjoy traveling and music and share a home in Atlanta, with their seven-year-old golden retriever, Aiko.
